Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government has approved the proposal of UAE's AMEA Power to implement additional renewable energy projects by the summer of 2025.

The projects involve adding 500 megawatts (MW) of solar energy upon the completion of the 500-MW Abydos solar energy project, according to a cabinet statement.

Moreover, a combined 1,500 MW of solar and wind energy will be integrated into the national electricity grid following the completion of the 1,000-MW additional solar energy project and the ongoing 500-MW Amunet wind energy project.

These initiatives will collectively add 2,000 MW of renewable energy capacity, including the battery storage system, by the summer of 2025.

Earlier in July, AMEA Power’s Chairman Hussain Al Nowais revealed plans for new renewable energy projects in Egypt with capacities of up to 2,500 MW.
